Anonymous asked: Hey, so I’m thinking of teaching in Korea. I actually have a masters degree in violin and make a pretty nice living teaching privately in the US, but adventure lead me to teaching abroad… I’m ok with teaching english as my main living, but how do music lessons work in Korea? What are the chances I could land a music teaching gig on the side?
We have a violin...

this is why i am pale.
itsdaejeondarling:
Fucking hell I hate managing people. Here is my advice: If you suck at your job, stop sucking at your job.
Ways to not suck:
1) Be proactive. As in, get off your lazy ass and FIND me if you have a question or want some feedback. There are so many people in this building and everyone always has an urgent question ALL THE TIME. Sometimes I mentally schedule time to see you...

charliesuh replied to your post:This End of the Year Recital is going to be the death of me.
I don’t mean this to sound rude or anything but take your time Jdub! Korea had so many good moments for you and you’re about to leave. Even with the busyness, try to live it up, savor the times! Don’t think too much about home till you get there.
Csuh, your words are always appreciated <3

I can’t wait for February to be over. No recital and back in California’s sunny embrace.

Official Tumblr Meetup | Seoul →
If you live in Korea and you still don’t follow the above blog, you should. Tumblr is a wonderful community and Tumblrs in Korea are even better!
I may be a little biased. But, still. A great way to meet people - anddddd there’s even a meetup in the works for next month!

Slightly more serious post on why I would have...
soniassi:
Hearing about one decision being so final makes me want to never own a house. I don’t want to be so involved with an enormous nest that I have to fill with stuff that I can’t pursue things I’m passionate about that may possibly be located in other cities, states, or countries. If a house and a car and a bunch of furniture and a huge TV and a stackable washing machine dryer and a garage...

– In regards to going to snowboarding in Korea.
Despite my sentiments, looks like I’ll be cruisin’ the slopes tomorrow! Did you know Koreans wear butt padding? Ha.

My missing package has been located!
Hurrah! I’ll be receiving it tonight *fingers crossed*
To be honest, I care more about the snacks soon to be in my mouth than the Christmas gifts (polaroid and clothes).
Priorities.

Never trust a company with a high turnover rate.
If only 1 out of 4 English teachers and 5 out of 20 Korean teachers are staying with a school, it means one thing.
Don’t do it.

Arghhhhhh.
Phi Phi (ferry) + Phuket (minibus) + Phuket Town (bus) + Phuket Airport (plane) + Bangkok Airport (plane) + Beijing Airport (plane) + Incheon Airport
= 36 hours of bad planning
A 12 hour layover in an overly large, FREEZING Beijing International Airport + a total of 5 restaurants + 2 currency exchange stalls + NO FACEBOOK/TUMBLR
= ridiculous and never again
I will appreciate my trip tomorrow....
